Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Learning and Development Specialist / Instructional Designer to join our team. This role is focused on developing training content for hourly store associates, including video scripts, e-courses, infographics, and articles. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in scripting, video development, and instructional design, particularly for retail clients or large corporations.
Must Haves:
- Extensive scripting experience
- Proficiency in video development using Adobe Premiere Pro
- Experience creating training videos for internal training for retail clients or large corporations
- Instructional design experience with tools such as Adobe, Articulate, PowerPoint, etc.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with multiple design modalities (e-learning, classroom, virtual, gamification, etc.)
- Related industry certifications or credentials (e.g., PHR, ATD Certifications)
- Experience designing solutions for a large geographically dispersed workforce
Project: This project aims to train hourly store associates on selling selected products for each department within the store. The role involves developing training video scripts and other training content directly in our Learning Management System (Axonify) and using tools such as PowerPoint and Rise, based on direction from the internal Learning & Development team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and analyze quantitative and qualitative data critical to solutions development
- Design and develop learning solutions to drive business performance
- Adhere to instructional design and development standards
- Execute against agreed-upon deadlines and milestones
- Elevate risks that impact timelines
- Partner with the L&D team, SMEs, and vendors on instructional design standards and adult learning principles
Day-to-Day Activities:
- Researching assigned product groups
- Writing training plans, including key learning points, video scripts, and reinforcement questions for assigned product groups
- Sending training plans for SME review
- Gathering assets from our marketing asset repository
- Creating voiceovers using the AI platform Wellsaid
- Creating training videos in Adobe Premiere Pro, using b-roll, gathered assets, and AI voiceovers
- Sending videos for SME review

Senior Role Responsibilities:
- Provide needs analysis, measurement, and design of learning programs for all employees

- Ensure all employees have the necessary skills and behaviors to perform their jobs effectively and safely
- Create and manage the onboarding program and new employee orientation process
Additional Notes:
- Product knowledge information will be provided weekly for the development of scripts/videos and content for the learning management system
- Critical skills include collaboration, working efficiently, and smartly
- Experience developing material for retail store associates is important
- Familiarity with Axonify for e-learning in a microlearning format
- Ability to produce 15-16 videos per week, each 1-3 minutes in length, primarily using Adobe Express/Premiere and Vimeo
- Ability to edit graphics is helpful
- Knowledge of Smartsheet is nice but can be trained
- Focus on product categories and customer focus, supporting 14 different departments
